Whistler 7-Eleven Fire and Ice Show
January 3rd, 2010 – January 31st, 2010

All can enjoy a fantabulous show of fire spinners, fire words and the hottest pros from our own ski and snowboard school, taking BIG air through rings of fire.  Worth a trip to Whistler before the Olympics.

Whistler Deep Winter Photo Challenge
January 7th, 2010

Enjoy the grassroots celebration of winter by putting together a slideshow entry. Last year’s winner, Jordan Manley, will be back to defend his title. Also on the roster are top ski and snowboard photographers Paul Morrison, Ashley Barker and Nicholas Teichrob. Fairmont Chateau Whistler, 7:00 pm.

Whistler Winter Purina Incredible Dog Challenge
January 8th, 2010 to January 9th, 2010

Showcasing some of the best performance dogs in the world, the Winter Purina Incredible Dog Challenge features competitions in Avalanche Rescue, Ski Joring, Agility, Head-to-Head 60-Weave Pole Racing and Freestyle Flying Disc. Local dogs and owners can participate in the fun Paw-and-Pole exhibition competition, which includes fastest small dog and fastest large dog awards, a Best Costume award, in addition to a “Look-Alike” contest to see who most resembles their dog. All events are open to the public.

Whistler NiX Theatre of Snow and Ice
January 22nd, 2010 to February 27th, 2010

Bundle up at Lost Lake and enter Canada’s first theatre of snow and ice. This theatrical adventure, a BC premiere, follows two survivors and an arsonist through the fireworks at the end of the world. NiX is a frozen fantasy, complete with a flaming tuba, a snowman death scene and an explosive love story that will melt the coldest of hearts. Show starts at 7:30 pm. Whistler Callaghan Classic Group Cross-Country Ski
January 30th, 2010

For all of you classic riders, this is the 2nd event in Callaghan Country’s annual Benchmark Series.  To participate, ski to Callaghan Lodge and benchmark your time. Enjoy a free BBQ and picnic when you arrive. The base opens at 8:30 am and the group ski starts at 9:00 am.

Whistler Outdoor Farmer’s Market
October 26 – December 21, 2008
Select Whistler Farmer’s Market vendors set up shop inside the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre’s Istken Hall for an indoor market experience. Featuring rotating vendors from the seasonal market, it will be a new market every week. 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, 4584 Blackcomb Way. Please enter through the Lorimer Road entrance.

Whistler Film Festival
December 4 — 7, 2008
Four exciting days of film featuring more than 90 movies from around the world, plus exclusive premieres, outdoor screenings, workshops, ski races, parties, celebrities, live music and prizes.

5th Annual Christmas Breakfast
December 4, 2008
Presented by Mountain FM and the Westin Resort & Spa Whistler, this yuletide event helps raise money for the local food banks throughout Sea to Sky Country. Bring a new toy, non-perishable food item or cash donation and enjoy a complimentary breakfast, local entertainment and the fulfillment that comes from helping out those in need. Breakfast runs from 6:30 to 9:00 a.m. at the Westin Resort & Spa Whistler.

PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola Opens
December 12, 2008
When the Peak 2 Peak Gondola begins operating in December 2008, it will be the longest unsupported lift span in the world.

7-Eleven Fire and Ice Show

It doesn’t get much hotter than this! Be amazed as firespinners and fireworks light up the night sky, while skiers and snowboarders jump through the dazzling Ring of Fire every Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at the base of Whistler Mountain.
